Around 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast were left without power on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems passed over the region, bringing strong winds reaching 109km/h.
Large Hailstones and Broad Damage
Homeowners reported giant hailstones as large as 7cm in particular locations. Meteorological experts confirmed that different parts across the state had been hit with significant hail.

Utility workers were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews activated to handle the extensive power failures.
Victorian Weather Woes
Simultaneously, nearly one thousand residents in Victoria also faced power outages after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
Tuesday was predicted as the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk anticipated across various areas of both states.

Health officials warned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, especially given the current weather patterns.
