Unidentified Magenta Sludge on Isolated Tasmanian Beach Spurs Fears of Potential Algal Bloom

Authorities in the island state are attempting to pinpoint a pink slime that has surfaced on a remote shoreline, with some scientists concerned it could be an phytoplankton proliferation.

Widespread Occurrence Along Coastline

The rosy-colored ooze was found on a section of a coastal area about 37 miles south of the capital. A comparable ooze has also been documented on areas of Little Roaring Beach and an additional coastal site.
